Prototypes are manufactured using production means called Tooling, for example using plastic injection molds and other means. A prototype is the first in series for mass production, but before a prototype, a feasibility testing model is usually manufactured. Experiments and improvements are performed on the feasibility testing model until the desired result is achieved, and after the model works functionally, we proceed to the product design stage and planning and manufacturing of the final prototype.

It is possible and advisable to protect a prototype being manufactured. It is possible to protect an invention or design even before manufacturing a prototype.
